Learning to Drive During a Pandemic

The UK lockdown has affected many things in our lives, and one of those is learning to drive. If you were on the way to getting your own driving license before all of this started you are likely to have been feeling very frustrated by the fact that you cannot have lessons or take your test thanks to the pandemic.

Although now driving instructors have been allowed to return to work, there is likely to be a huge backlog of driving tests, so when you finally do get to take your test, the pressure may feel even higher than it usually would, as the wait has been so long and it may be a while before you can try again should you fail.

A good way to build your confidence on the road and get in more practice is to see if you have a family member in your household who drives who would either take you out in their car, or if you have a car ready and waiting they can sit with you in that.

You can get L plates and you will need learner driver insurance from a good insurance company such as from the insurance brokers Bath based Mark Richard https://www.markrichard.co.uk/areas-we-cover/insurance-brokers-bath/

It is a great way to build experience and confidence on the road whilst you await a test to become available, and it allows you to gain extra practice and experience in between lessons with your instructor – just don’t pick up any bad habits!
