Stay hydrated while at work with these tips

Avoid eating processed foods

Fresh food is healthier than processed food, such as fast food. Excessive amounts of sugar, salt and oil can cause dehydration. So, avoid eating fast food, and choose fresh foods.

Electrified electrolytes

The electrolytes in the body regulate water flow and nerve impulses. These salts are lost in sweat and essential to stay hydrated. Consider taking electrolyte tablets to keep hydrated if you do a lot of physical work. As a natural source of electrolytes, coconut water can be a great alternative to sports beverages.

Pick the right water

A flavoured drink with sugar or flavouring added is not recommended. Sugars and other additives dehydrate the body. You can add flavour to water with an infuser bottle if you cannot stand its taste.

Regularly drink water

You won’t stay hydrated by drinking just one glass of water in the morning, or even at lunch. Keep a glass or bottle of water on you at all times and remind yourself to drink more water, especially during hot weather. Avoid alcohol

After work everyone likes to relax, but alcohol can dehydrate you. You can feel the effects even a day later, making you tired and groggy.

Stay cool

You can stay hydrated by turning on the air conditioner or increasing its temperature. Why is this? Cool or fresh air helps your body to maintain its normal temperature. This will prevent overheating. This will reduce water loss through sweating.

Don’t wait till you are thirsty

Dehydration can cause thirst. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, and consume fruits and vegetables that are high in water to prevent becoming thirsty.
