Climbing Wall Cheltenham Family Sessions Explained

Climbing Wall Cheltenham Family Sessions – What You Need to Know to Book a Fun Family Activity!

What a Family Session Includes

Typically Family Sessions last 1.5 hours and include some basic introduction to roped climbing as well as lots of bouldering. Families are given a basic introduction to the activities by the climbing wall staff, and then allowed to go off and have fun on the wall.

Age and Ability Mix

Most centres allow children from 4 – 5 years old to participate in family sessions and will try to mix the more able and less able children of similar ages so that they can climb together.

Supervision and Staff Support

There is always a member of staff on hand to either spot children or to show adults how to use the equipment to complete a route. Parents are required to stay with their children during the session and, on roped climbs in particular, to ensure that they are undertaking the activity safely.

What to Bring

The majority of climbing sessions are completed in comfortable clothing. We recommend that you wear the closest fit to ensure that you are able to move freely. Climbing shoes are supplied for the session and can be hired for the session when you arrive. It’s also a good idea to bring a water bottle and a small snack for after the session.

Booking and Arrival

It is recommended that children and adults arrive 10 minutes prior to the session start time in order to complete any registration forms required by children and get changed prior to the session start time.
