History of Aran Sweaters

The Aran Sweater is a very popular style of sweater that takes its name from a region of Ireland known as Aran. Aran is one of the three main counties in the Irish county of Munster, along with Kerry and Galway in Ireland. Typical Aran sweaters are white in colour and you can find some great options from places such as Shamrock Gift.

Aran Sweaters is still a much loved fashion in Ireland, although they have taken a back seat to more fashionable styles of clothing recently. One of the main reasons for this has been because of the advances in modern technology and production techniques, allowing for clothing manufacturers to produce clothing that is cheaper, more efficient and quicker to make. Another reason is because of the Irish people, who have always had a close bond with the environment and are very conscious of the problems of deforestation and other environmental damage to the world. Because of these factors, the Irish have become increasingly interested in supporting eco-friendly activities, and the aran sweaters are perfect examples of this. The Irish have a long history of hand-knitting clothing and are able to produce some of the finest sweaters in the world, due to the skill of their artisans.

Because the aran sweater is made of hand-knitted wool, the patterns are very intricate and detailed and give them their unique identity as an item of clothing. Most of the sweaters produced in Ireland are made from local aran, which originates from the Irish islands but is used all over the world and is often referred to as Irish wool. There are many highly skilled artisans who produce fine pieces of these sweaters each year, usually using local materials.
