World Safari Day

African Bush Camps were created to keep the safari industry in the spotlight, and highlight the impact of African travel on wildlife, wild spaces and its people.

The unofficial ‘World Safari Day’, which was created in 2020, is celebrated every year on November 25th. World safari day aims to revitalise the safari tourism industry, and to bring attention to people and wildlife who have been negatively affected.

Safaris are not just about wildlife, or having an intimate, close encounter with it. They also involve people and the preservation of cultures, and ensuring that large tracts of land will remain viable for future generations. Travel is a major factor in all of this, and every guest who visits Africa for a safari makes a huge impact on the space. A safari offers a great opportunity to raise awareness about the economic benefits of the industry, especially for communities surrounding many national and private reserves in Africa.

Around 30 million people are estimated to travel to Africa every year. This represents 10% of all travel worldwide. This is an important statistic that shows how tourism can be a powerful economic force.

You can help to create jobs and contribute to education, healthcare and schooling by travelling to Africa. Safaris have so many unnoticed impacts on Africans’ daily lives.

If you’re planning an African safari and looking for ways to contribute to World Safari Day while travelling, or if your trip includes time spent with local communities, then consider helping a conservation project.
