Dudley, a thriving market town in the West Midlands

With a population of over seventy-nine thousand and being situated in the popular area of the West Midlands, Dudley is a thriving Market Town that is attracting visitors and new residents to its location.  Labelled as the Capital of the Black Country, the town is only five and a half miles southwest of Wolverhampton and eight miles northwest of Birmingham, making Dudley a great place to live and work. If you, like many other families, are seriously considering a move to this popular town then get your house on the market, put all your belongings into a Self Storage Dudley container and make the move.  These containers can easily be obtained from a professional company such as Anchor Self Storage and can save you a lot of time and money.

Dudley is one of the birthplaces of the Industrial Revolution and has grown and prospered since then.  There are many retail outlets, such as the Merry Hill Shopping Centre, a popular Zoo, that is actually built into the grounds of the ruins of a thirteenth Century Castle and the Black Country Living Museum to draw visitors to its location and keep the local residents happy. The town is making great investments in its future and the local Council and Zoo have joined forces to plan a regeneration of the facilities and a massive redevelopment is in the pipelines.  Expected to cost a staggering £38.7 million it will see an Asiatic Forest, a tropical dome, two aquatic facilities and walkthrough aviaries in its new environment.

Dudley is blessed to have several canals in and around the area, including the Dudley Canal which passes directly underneath the town and can only be enjoyed by boat at this point as there is no towpath for ramblers to walk along. The canal is incredibly popular with narrow boat users, fishermen, cyclists and walkers and some upgraded sections have been made a part of the National Cycle network. Dudley is an area of interest for historians as it houses eleven ancient monuments, and 260 listed buildings.  Dudley has a train station and bus depot within its centre that give easy access to many surrounding towns and villages across the country. The road structure around the town is extensive with the B4176, the A461 and the M5 being within close proximity.
