Make your own Winter Den

Families across the country are looking forward to cosy Saturday evenings in their homes as the nights get darker. A den is a great way to enjoy a Saturday evening with takeaway food and your favourite TV show.

Raise the Roof

Choose carefully as the roof is a key component of your den. Avoid blankets that are too heavy and small towels that will not reach. The best option is a large bedsheet. Consider what can support your roof structure. The back of your couch is perfect, and clothes horses are also great options as a “joist” for your makeshift roofing.

String can be used to support the roof in many ways, including from a window or door frame to a fireplace. Look around and decide what you like, then peg your roof. Then, you can add other sheets and peg them in place to create walls. This will give your den a more cosy feel.

Den interiors

The dream den looks like a bed. Cushions, pillows, blankets and even your duvet are all good ideas. You can now move on to interior decorating. You can use photos, fairy lights or anything else to personalise it. Make it extra snuggly with an irish sweater for men. Visit Shamrock Gift for an irish sweater for men range.

You’ll also need a tray to keep your drinks steady and to possibly hold your laptop if your TV is not visible. This is also a great place to store popcorn or pizza.

It’s easy to update the interior of the den, but it is also simple to change back in the morning, when you want to resume your normal routine.

There’s no reason why you can’t have a den even without kids! Grab your blankets and your pyjamas or woolly jumpers. You won’t be sorry.
