What it takes to be a Fireman or Woman

To become a Fireman or Woman you will need to be deemed fit, active, resilient, intelligent, work well in a team, as well as individually and be dedicated, hardworking and sympathetic.  You will then need to pass an in-depth back-ground check, be over eighteen years old and have a full, clean driving licence. You have to enjoy working outdoors, sometimes in extreme conditions, be prepared to deal with horrifying situations including major fires, road traffic accidents and possible fatalities. You will also be required to complete extensive training exercises and learn how to administer emergency first aid as well as use essential equipment, and  Chemical Spill Kits.  These clever and effective kits contain everything a fireman or woman would need to deal effectively with a chemical spill.
