Three Fantastic Places to Enjoy a Peaceful Walk and Get Away from Festive Stress this Winter

The town of Ascot is probably best known for its famous race track, where people gather each year to experience the well-known Royal Ascot – a day of fun and horse racing. If you want to enjoy the wintery woodlands, then head to Swinley forest. As well as miles of walking trails through the woodlands, there is also a popular look out point where you can admire the stunning views all around you. There are also other activities to enjoy here if you wish, such as biking, horse riding and the exciting woodland adventures of Go Ape. Woodlands in the winter are a magical place and the lack of foliage in the trees make it much easier to spot birds and other wildlife on your walk.

The Five Arch Bridge – This is a picturesque place to walk and is particularly magnificent at dawn and dusk in the winter months. If you want a walk where you can get some stunning snapshots of this old bridge and the water that runs beneath it then this is definitely the one for you! The area that it is set in is designed by the famous landscaper, Lancelot Capability Brown, so there is also lots of beautiful park land to explore as well. However, if you are into wild swimming it isn’t something that is advisable here, as police did resort to putting up signs to warn the public from doing so.

The Valley Gardens – If you want to spend time exploring some very beautiful gardens, then head to the valley gardens in Windsor great park. Filled with many varieties of plants and trees, some native and some exotic, these gardens were certainly designed with the wow factor in mind. Although many visitors flock here in the summer for a glimpse of the beautiful blooms at their best, it is also a lovely place to be in the winter. Spending time walking through these gorgeous gardens and enjoying the quiet contemplation as well as appreciating the surrounding landscape is a great healer for the mind.
